The key priority in the historic urban area of Nicosia is the regeneration of the area in the centre of the walled city, adjacent to the new municipality building and the Green Line (United Nations Buffer Zone).

This includes the Creative Industry Quarter where the municipality will refurbish public spaces and restore the Old Municipal Market and the ex “STOA” building to host CYENS, the Research centre on Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging Technologies and other facilities for local entrepreneurs. Nicosia City Council aims to attract business, start-ups, industry, researchers, but also tourists to revive the area from a cultural, social and entrepreneurial perspective.
