By September 25, creatives can apply to contribute to the enhancement of the Werkspoorkwartier
The Utrecht HUB-IN, the BKC (Bedrijvenkring Cartesius) has launched an open call in the Historic Urban Area (HUA) of the Werkspoorkwartier.
The goal of the open call is to stimulate artists and creative entrepreneurs to create artistic products and services to address the questions and concerns of the HUA. This is done by enabling the realization of four temporary artistic interventions in Werkspoorkwartier over the next year. These interventions are specifically aimed at enhancing the area’s allure and creating a more immersive experience for both visitors and those who labor here. They provide a canvas to seamlessly blend the historical DNA of the region with its envisioned future. These interventions will accentuate ‘missing links’ or carve out new transitional spaces within the area, encouraging visitors to perceive public spaces from a fresh perspective. Overall, the projects will engage with the history and cultural heritage of the Werkspoorkwartier and/or tell a tale of modern creative work in the Werkspoorkwartier.
Each project’s realization boasts a budget of up to €15,000, inclusive of VAT, and will be supervised by members of the BKC.
Proposals are welcome until Monday, September 25 2023.
This open call is made possible through the collaborative efforts of HUB-IN Utrecht, Gemeente Utrecht, the BKC, and several area representatives. It’s a celebration of creativity and transformation that promises to cast a new light on Werkspoorkwartier.
