Brașov presented the HUB-IN project at the Partnership
for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation event
In July, Brașov had the opportunity to participate in the panel Cities as Innovation Laboratories at the Partnership for Transatlantic Energy and Climate Cooperation (P-TECC 2024) held in Bucharest. This event provided a crucial platform for discussions on the region’s energy future and how innovation can lead to sustainable solutions. The discussions highlighted the role of cities as dynamic hubs of innovation, where solutions for urban challenges are tested and refined.
Leea Mihailă, Director of the Agency of Brașov for the Management of Energy and Environment (ABMEE), represented the organization and presented its mission and vision to support Brașov’s transition to climate neutrality. In her intervention, Leea emphasized the importance of the HUB-IN project, the innovative EU-funded project transforming cities into laboratories of change.
Brașov’s HUB-IN: Leveraging local heritage by involving young generations
Brașov utilizes its historic urban area to offer young people the opportunity to propose innovative solutions that align the city with sustainability requirements and create a more inclusive environment. HUB-IN underscores the importance of collaboration between local authorities and the community. By involving citizens in the city’s development and adapting public services to their needs, Brașov is modernizing its infrastructure and preparing future generations to protect and improve the world we live in.
The HUB-IN project aims to regenerate Brașov’s Historic Center by integrating sustainability principles and leveraging local heritage. The City as a Classroom initiative fosters the formation of a dynamic community of young people and teachers dedicated to revitalizing unused city spaces into educational and cultural areas. The long-term goal of this program is to optimize the interaction between locals, tourists, and businesses with public spaces, providing a practical platform for education and community engagement.
In conclusion, the P-TECC event was an excellent opportunity to discuss how cities can and should serve as innovation laboratories, paving the way toward an inclusive future. Projects like HUB-IN play a crucial role in this process, and the active involvement of cities and local communities is essential for long-term success.
