In July, both adults and children can join a series of free creative workshops to discover more about the local cultural heritage
After the huge success of its Heritage Walks, which attracted about a thousand participants from April to June 2024, Nicosia HUB-IN is launching a series of free creative workshops, that aims to bring locals and visitors closer to Nicosia’s / Cyprus’ arts and craftsmanship and introduce them to the Cultural and Creative Industry of the city within the walls.

Drawing myself in Cypriot traditional costumes
Kids’ workshop powered by the Cypriot artist and designer, Ms. Irini Klokkari.
When: July 13, 10:00-13:00 EET
Where: CYENS Center of Excellence
Description: The workshop introduces kids to the world of the Cypriot costumes of the 19th century. Casual clothing and special gowns worn by Cypriot men and women of ancient times in Cyprus are presented through the stories of Panais, Elisavou, and others, with the aim of inspiring kids to draw themselves in such costumes. The workshop is addressed to kids between 7 and 12 years old.

Engraving Workshop
Adults’ workshop powered by the Cypriot artists Mr. Eyklides Papadopoulos and Ms. Despina Pringi
When: July 17 and 24, 17:30-19:30 EET
Where: Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre
Description: The workshop introduces participants to the art of engraving as an autonomous form of visual creation. Participants will be able to create their own work, using the linotype technique. The workshop is addressed to adults.

Laser-cut assembly lamps – From design to fabrication
Adults’ workshop powered by the artist Ms. Camila Calegari Margues
When: July 18, 10:00-15:00 EET
Where: CYENS Thinker Makerspace
Description: During the workshop participants will explore the design and production of table lamps through digital fabrication, using the laser-cut technique. What’s special about this workshop is its aim to raise awareness about the dying traditional crafts of our country and revive the “Fythkiotika” textile patterns in a radical way through a modern product. The workshop is addressed to adults.

Traditional Patterns – Stamped Bandanas
Kids’ workshop powered by the Cypriot artist and designer, Ms. Irini Klokkari.
When: July 20, 10:00-13:00 EET
Where: CYENS Center of Excellence
Description: The workshop takes kids on a journey back in time; to the 19th century, when head and waist scarves were a thing in Cypriot fashion for men and women alike. The kids will experience the art of making these scarves, by making their own bandana stamped with traditional patterns rich in shapes and colours. The workshop is addressed to kids between the age of 7 and 12.

Sounds of Nicosia – An interaction between music and visual arts
Adults’ workshop powered by the Cypriot artists Ms. Georgia Petroudi, Mr. Giorgos Christophi, and Ms. Eva Stavrou
When: July 25, 17:30-19:30 EET
Where: CYENS Center of Excellence
Description: By bringing together music and visual arts through live performance, projections, and digital applications, this workshop offers participants a creative experience. Participants will get the chance to explore the dynamic interplay between sound and image in two sequential activities, each promoting a deeper understanding of the relationship between the two media.
