“The City as a Classroom” represents a milestone of Brașov’s HUB-IN project.

It is an educational innovation programme that proposes an accelerator of ideas in tactical urbanism and urban acupuncture, through which pupils and students propose measures for improving different areas and develop prototypes of urban furniture in situ, within the historical centre of Brașov, inside the former fortification walls.

Brașov’s HUB-IN innovation programme is experimental and involves an iterative process of analysis and reflection. It uses elements of the Design Thinking methodology and goes through stages of ideation, prototyping, testing and pitching. These processes are described in detail in the HUB-IN User Manual, a practical guide for other similar initiatives that aim to involve young people in decision-making on urban place shaping, with a focus on accessibility and inclusion.
